The ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia is back at the spectacular Kalgoorlie Golf Club this week and the players have been greeted by cooler conditions and faster greens.
Rumour is a change in Course Superintendent has seen the greens being watered a little less and with windy conditions forecast it sets up to be a good test of links golf.
There are a number of past winners in the field including last year's champion Steve Dartnall, Jack and Peter Wilson, Ryan Lynch, Michael Long, Stephen Leaney and Jason Norris.
Tour Insider has so far tried to spread the love and not tip players previously mentioned this year but this week that rule has gone out the window.
#1 Jarryd Felton
This week's top tip has been close here a number of times and is probably owed a victory at Kalgoorlie (if that is such a thing). His recent form is good and with girlfriend Hannah Green recently winning her first Professional event in the US, Jarryd will be keen to register his third victory and keep the bragging rights in the partnership!
#2 Anthony Quayle
I tipped in Anthony in PNG last event; he is knocking on the door of his first victory after a very good start to his Pro career. Good friend Cory Crawford won in PNG and coach PGA Pro Ken Berndt could just see another of his pupils salute this week. A good omen; Anthony took over the PGA Tour of Australasia’s Instagram account this week and he will be looking to follow Dimi Papadatos' lead when he won the Vic Open this year after showing fans behind the scenes via Instagram early that week.
P.S. @pgatouraus is worth a follow on insta!
#3 Jason Norris
The South Australian veteran, who is a past champion of this event, comes in to the tournament with good recent form in Korea. It is said that if you can play well in Korea you can play well anywhere and Norris should be among the challengers this week.
#4 Min Woo Lee
The current course record holder and WA amateur superstar will be right in the mix this week as well. He is fresh off the Interstate Series where he had a successful week playing number 1 for WA. The experience is sure to have him in good form as he attempts to win his first pro event.
#5 Adam Burdett
Adam is competing in his first year on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia after completing his PGA Traineeship. He is a good young player who can shoot a low score and can be a threat here this week if he can put four rounds together.
A shout out to three time champion Kim Felton who is now working for the WA PGA Division and is in charge of his first WA PGA Championship. I'm sure he will continue to be a star off the course as well. Hopefully as an administrator can keep his feet this year after rolling his ankle playing in 2016, take it easy big fella!
