South Australian Paul Spargo has survived a challenging day at the BetEasy Masters to take a one shot lead into the final round.

"PaulStarting the day two shots off the lead, Spargo held on through tough conditions to shoot 1-under 71 and finish top of the leaderboard at 8-under the card.

"Today, condition wise, was pretty brutal and I think all players probably found it tough," said Spargo.

"I’ve played a fair bit in the Melbourne Sandbelt so I’m sort of used to these conditions, it always throws in a challenge and you have to be really tactically on to it."

"You’ve just got to grind it out in this game sometimes and you never know what can happen."

"Especially on days like today, it’s up and down, up and down.  You’ve just got to hang in there and do your best."

Spargo is an experience player on the PGA Tour of Australasia but is yet to secure a win.

"I have a lot of experience being out here for about close to 10 years now."

"I’ve definitely done my time, and I suppose this is probably the next step for me."

Spargo has been in good form recently, playing in the final group of the WA Open in October and tomorrow will draw on that experience .

"Obviously, the more you put yourself up there in contention and playing with the lead, you get used to it," added Spargo.

"So all the experiences definitely helps and hopefully holds me in good stead."

Overnight leader Michael Wright found it tough on course today but is only one shot off the lead heading into the final round.

"It was a very challenging day out there today.  We had all sorts of things go on.  I’m happy enough to be sitting here one back," said Wright.

"I’m really going to need to rest up tonight because I’m fried after today."

Victorian amateur Lucas Herbert had the round of the day, firing a course record 7-under 65 to move up the leaderboard to be tied third with James Nitties (NSW) and Nick Cullen (SA) on 6-under the card.
Geoff Ogilvy is lurking a shot behind and is tied sixth with Josh Younger (VIC).

Rounding out the top-10 on 4-under the card and eight shots off the lead are Adam Scott (QLD), Chris Campbell (ACT), Nick O’Hern (WA), Adam Bland (SA), Kim Felton (WA), Aron Price (NSW), Matthew Griffin (VIC) and Matthew Guyatt (QLD).

The final round of the BetEasy Masters tees off at 8.17am with the final group of Paul Spargo and Michael Wright on course at 1.15pm.
