Scott set for three-peat at Australian Masters

Adam Scott is aiming for a three-peat at the BetEasy Masters to be played this week at the Metropolitan Golf Club.

Adam Scott is aiming for a three-peat at the BetEasy Masters to be played this week at the Metropolitan Golf Club.

"AdamCast your mind back to 2012, before that magical day at Augusta, Adam Scott returned home from a winless year in the US.

But it all turned around when he defeated Ian Poulter at Kingston Heath Golf Club to win his first Australian Masters title and slipped on the gold jacket.

Acknowledging the confidence boost this gave him, Scott went on to win the green jacket at Augusta National.

"We all sat there and somewhat joked, I guess, afterwards about winning the gold jacket, and then the green one’s next," said Scott reminiscing about his winner’s press conference in 2012.

"But it is, it’s amazing how much confidence you can take from a win anywhere on any circuit in the world and what that can do for you and spur you onto."

Returning to the Australian Masters in 2013, this time at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Scott defeated Matt Kuchar to retain his title.

This year, Scott is ready to make history and win the BetEasy Masters for a third year in a row.

"That sounds pretty good," said Scott of the three-peat.

"It would be neat to have my own little piece of history down here in this tournament for one day someone else to come and win four."

Scott’s game is in good shape; however there are still four rounds to get through on the Metropolitan Golf Club and 125 other players to beat.

"I certainly feel like I’ve prepared well in the last week since playing in China and would love to keep this good run going with the Australian Masters," said Scott who finished T12 at the WGC – HSBC Champions tournament.

"But, there’s 120 odd other guys here who also have that dream, and I’m sure there’s going to be tough competition this week."

"I’m going to have to play sharp and get my head around Metropolitan Golf Club pretty quickly."

The BetEasy Masters will be played at Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne from 20-23 November.

Being played for a prize purse of AU$1,000,000 the winner also receives Official World Golf Ranking Points and becomes fully exempt on to the PGA Tour of Australasia for the remainder of this season plus a further two years.

Tickets are available at: www.australianmasters.com.au with free entry for children under the age of 16, accompanied by a paying adult.
