Queenslander has the Wright stuff at the Masters

Queenslander Michael Wright has consolidated his lead at the BetEasy Masters after the second round played at Metropolitan Golf Club today.

Queenslander Michael Wright has consolidated his lead at the BetEasy Masters after the second round played at Metropolitan Golf Club today.

""Starting the day tied for the lead, Wright turned in a 4-under 68 to be two shots clear of the field on 9-under the card.

Wright’s love affair of the Metropolitan continued with comfort on the course key to his good performance.

"I like it more and more every day," said Wright of the course.

"I felt a lot more relaxed in my body and a lot less tension in my arms."

"So that relaxes me all over and that produces good golf shots"

"I’m just really looking forward to trying to feel comfortable in the next couple of days."

After opening his campaign at the BetEasy Masters with a bogey, Wright has gone on to be bogey free for 35 holes.

"It’s funny because mentally after that first hole yesterday, I was really calm," said Wright.

"My coach and I in the last couple of months have been doing some really good work."

"When you have that in the back of the mind, it’s sort of inner confidence that I had and it didn’t faze me at all."

Wright leads a packed leaderboard with South Australian Paul Spargo just two shots behind courtesy of a 5-under 67 today.

Amateur Todd Sinnott continued to play well on his home course and is tied third on 6-under the card with European Tour player Richard Green who fired a 5-under 67 today.

Rounding out the top-5 on 5-under the card are Matthew Guyatt and Anthony Houston.

Tournament drawcard and World Number 2 Adam Scott posted 4-under 68 and to be lurking just outside the top-10.

"I felt, certainly, on the front nine, there was a low round out there," said Scott who made the turn at 4-under the card.

"If it’s similar conditions tomorrow, with three par-5s on the front nine, someone is going to turn low, it’s possible."

"But, still have to hit a lot of good shots and make a lot of putts to do it."

The second round cut was made at 2-over the card with 63 Professionals and three amateurs making the weekend rounds.
