Draining a 60 foot birdie putt on his final hole of the ISPS HANDA Perth International, Jason Scrivener finished the leading Aussie at the tournament.
Firing a final round of 3-under the card, Scrivener was at the top end of the leaderboard all day and eventually finished outright third on 14-under the card.
"Just a bonus on 17 and 18. Really disappointing bogey on 16 and to finish like that was yeah, just a big bonus," said Scrivener who had back-to-back birdies on two of the hardest holes on the course for the tournament.
"I'm really happy with the week and couldn't really ask for too much more."
It's a huge step forward for the 26-year-old who is competing on the European Tour for the second year after re-securing his status at Qualifying School.
It becomes his best finish on the lucrative Tour to date, his previous best finish a tied 3rd at the Hong Kong Open.
"I think it's just the more times you put yourself in that position, the more comfortable you get" said Scrivener.
"Hong Kong last year was a big learning curve for me and a big confidence booster, and same with this. The more times I can do it, the better."
"Just walking up the last, I said to my caddie, 'it's so difficult to win a golf tournament, because you can play so well for a week and just have a few mistakes and it will cost you the tournament.' You've got to put four really good rounds together and I feel like I'm pretty close to that."
He also now claims the honour of the best Australian finish at the ISPS HANDA Perth International, it previously belonging to Dimitrios Papadatos and Brody Ninyette who finished tied 3rd in 2013.
Thanks to his results this week, Scrivener has secured a start in the True Thailand Classic next week, a start he would not have previously had based on his category on the European Tour.
"I just got told I'll get into Thailand in a couple weeks, which I wasn't going to get into. But just getting off to a good start on the Money List is a big bonus."
