Lyle: I can win

Jarrod Lyle believes he can win on home soil this year after declaring that this year for him is all about winning.

"" Arriving home in Australia for the BetEasy Australian Masters, Lyle thinks he is in with a good chance for a victory this year.

"I’d like to think that I’ve got a very good chance of winning," said Lyle.

It is quite a contrast to last years Australian Masters, which for Lyle was a real achievement just to get his form back after illness.

Originally from Shepparton in country Victoria, Lyle has battled leukaemia twice since the age of 17 and is currently playing on the PGA TOUR via a medical exemption.

"Last year, to make the cut, it felt like a victory for me but now I feel like I’m back to where I need to be to be competitive."

"It’s a completely different scenario than it was last year,"

"I’m a golfer again.  I want to be out playing golf.  I want to be competitive,"

"I want to win golf tournaments like everybody else that’s playing," said Lyle.

Lyle is confident, that his form and fitness is also back on track, along with the psychological aspect associated with his recovery.

"My fitness has come a long way from last year".

"I’ve been working hard on that and since we’ve been home, I’ve really stepped it up another gear".

"It’s taken a lotto get the golf swing right, to get the body right, but I think the hardest part was to get the mind right" said Lyle.

Winning a tournament at home is also something Lyle would like to see become a reality sooner rather than later.

"If I ever won a golf tournament, I would want it to be in Australia".

"It’s something that from the day I turned Pro that I’ve always wanted to achieve,"

"To be able to doit in front of your home crowd in, front of your family and your friends, would mean the absolute world."

Lyle will tee off with Robert Allenby and Lucas Herbert on Thursday at 12:30pm.

The BetEasy Masters will be played at The Metropolitan Golf Club from 20-23 November, 2014.
