Jason Day headed home

World Number 1 Jason Day has
confirmed that he will head home this year for the first time since becoming
the world’s best golfer.

World Number 1 Jason Day has
confirmed that he will head home this year for the first time since becoming
the world’s best golfer.

"JasonWhile Day has ruled himself out
of the Olympics he has confirmed he will represent Australia as he aims to
defend his World Cup of Golf title in Melbourne.

"It’s been a long time since I’ve
been back home, obviously some injuries and some pregnancies that we’ve had has
caused me not to come back,’ said Day.

"I’ve missed Australia very much,
and I’m looking forward to getting back there and playing and representing
Australia in the World Cup."

The week prior, Day will tee it
up on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia at the Emirates Australian Open.

"The Australian Open holds a
special spot in my heart and I’d love to get my name on that trophy one day –
hopefully this November," added Day.

"It’s a tournament I’ve always
cherished, just as I know some of the sport’s greats have through the years."

Day last competed on his home
Tour in 2013 when he finished tied 6th at the Aussie Open when it
was played at Royal Sydney Golf Club, the venue which will again host this year’s
tournament.

"I really enjoyed the Royal
Sydney layout in 2013 and it was such a good atmosphere around such a great
historic course," continued Day.

"I’m sure the crowds will be huge
again in November – I can’t wait to come home and give it my best shot."

Standing between Day and the
Stonehaven Cup is World Number 2 and 2014 champion Jordan Spieth.

It was announced last week the
super star American would be competing down under on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of
Australasia for the third consecutive year.

"I have really enjoyed my previous visits to Australia and I can’t wait
to get back in November,” said Spieth.

"I look back at my win in the 2014 Emirates Australian Open with great
memories as it helped me build momentum for 2015."

The news that Day, the MyGolf Ambassador, is coming home is sure to delight thousands of junior MyGolfers around the country as they look to forward meeting and watching their idol compete.

The Emirates Australian Open will be played at Royal Sydney Golf Club
from 17-20 November.
