New Zealand Danny Lee has many accomplishments on his resume including a PGA TOUR victory but he will make his debut at the Australian PGA Championship from 1-4 December.
World Number 58 Danny Lee grew up playing golf across the Tasman in New Zealand and made a huge debut onto the world stage when he won the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic as an amateur.
Since then Lee's career has gone from strength-to-strength highlighted by a win on the PGA TOUR in 2015 which lead to him representing the International Team at The Presidents Cup and New Zealand at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
This year, despite growing up in neighbouring New Zealand, Lee will play the Australian PGA Championship, co-sanctioned by the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour, for the first time.
"I am excited to play my first Australian PGA Championship. I have heard lots of great things about the tournament and am happy to be able to experience it myself for the first time," said Lee, who at World Number 64 is the highest ranked male New Zealand player.
"2016 has been an incredible year playing at the Olympics and I am looking forward to finishing my season on the Gold Coast."
Before teeing it up in Queensland, Lee will tee off today at the World Cup of Golf where he will team up with Ryan Fox to chase glory for New Zealand.
Fox, who has been a regular at the Australian PGA Championship recording a best of finish at T11 at RACV Royal Pines Resort in 2014 will join Lee on the Gold Coast.
After a strong season on the European Challenge Tour where he finished 4th on the Order of Merit, Fox has graduated to the European Tour and will tee off his season on familiar territory.
"It's pretty great that the Australian PGA Championship will be my first European Tour event since gaining my card," said Fox, who had seven top-10 finishes including a win at the Northern Ireland Open on the secondary Tour this year.
"I know the Royal Pines layout well, I always enjoy playing in Australia, it is where I started my career, so I am hoping it turns out to be a successful week for me."
"Plus having Danny there is going to make sure it's a fun week. We are good mates and he has a good sense of humour. I think he is going to love the Gold Coast, the Aussie crowds and the festival feel of the Australian PGA Championship."
Having Team New Zealand, from both the Rio Olympics and World Cup of Golf, is a great complement to a strong Australian PGA Championship field.
"Danny Lee is a brilliant personality and always a fan favourite in the US, we are delighted to have him join us at the Australian PGA Championship for the first time," said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
"We also look forward to having Ryan Fox join us again on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia. This is his home Tour and we have really loved watching him go from his first win in 2014 to competing full time on the European Challenge Tour and representing New Zealand on the world's biggest stage; the Olympics.
"The next chapter of Ryan's career is set to be even more spectacular as he launches his European Tour career at the Australian PGA Championship."
Lee and Fox join World Number 7 Adam Scott, Englishman Ian Poulter, World Number 54 Marc Leishman, Scott Hend, Marcus Fraser, American Harold Varner III and defending champion Nathan Holman at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 1-4 December for the Australian PGA Championship.
The Australian PGA Championship is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland's It's Live! in Queensland major events calendar.
The Australian PGA Championship will be played at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 1-4 December with tickets on sale via Ticketek.
