Wynnum to host QLD Senior PGA

Known for hosting Australia’s Richest one-day Pro-Am, the Wynnum Golf Club will add a second major tournament to their golfing calendar in 2017, as it plays host to the 2017 QLD Senior PGA Championship.

Known for hosting Australia’s Richest one-day Pro-Am, the Wynnum Golf Club will add a second major tournament to their golfing calendar in 2017, as it plays host to the 2017 QLD Senior PGA Championship.

""After not being staged since 2014, the Wynnum Golf Club along with its sponsors have accepted the opportunity to host the $25,000 event over two days, with a quality field likely to compete over the 7 and 8 August.

Head Professional and tournament host Matthew King is excited by the opportunity of hosting such a prestigious event, following the club’s long association in running the Ken Barton Memorial Ladbrokes Legends Pro-Am in past years.

“It’s going to be great to welcome the Legends of the game back to Wynnum again this year and we look forward to the likes of Peter Senior, Ossie Moore and Rodger Davis entertaining all our guests over the two days,” said King.

“Long time sponsors Doug Barton/Mark Beitz and Mick Power have enjoyed a long association with the Legends Tour and they look forward to continuing this into the future with the QLD Senior PGA Championship being played in conjunction with our Ken Barton Memorial Legends Pro-Am.”

The 2016 Ken Barton Memorial Legends Pro-Am champion Tod Power is set to return and will no doubt be one to watch as he attempts to claim his first QLD Senior PGA Championship.

“Wynnum Golf Club along with Mick Power and Doug Barton have been a great supporters of various professional golf events for close to four decades and it’s great to see them take on the QLD Senior PGA Championship in 2017,” said Power.

“I have had success at Wynnum at a Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series and Ladbrokes Legends Tour level and it would pretty satisfying if I was to add the QLD Senior PGA Championship to my accomplishments.”

Spectators are welcome to attend the two days of the QLD Senior PGA Championship, a wonderful opportunity to witness golf played by some of Australian golf greats.
