Tinkler stays steady for Legends win

Lucien Tinkler fired an even par round of 71 in windy conditions to take out the 2017 Altitude Wealth Solutions Mt Warren Park Ladbrokes Legends Pro-Am.

""Mt Warren proved to be a stern test for the Legends Professionals with gusty winds and fast greens.

Tinkler finished one shot ahead of a trio of players including Tod Power, Tim Elliott and Simon Jagot, who also finished runner-up on Monday at Brisbane.

“I had a great day on course today playing alongside a good mate and former head professional of the Mt Warren Park Golf Club in Gary Burmester," Tinkler said.

“Before we teed off I knew it was going to be a tough day, and it certainly turned out that way. The wind made club selection quite tricky and if you left yourself on the wrong side of the hole, you were left with a delicate little chip.

“I thought I had let the field in with a couple of bogies midway through my round, so I was pretty happy to find out that my round was good enough for the win.

“I am happy with where my game is at and I am really looking forward to getting to Wynnum on Monday.”

The Legends will now enjoy the weekend off before the QLD Senior PGA Championship tees off for the first time since 2014 at the Wynnum Golf Club on Monday.
