Legends set sights for Capricorn Coast

Some of the country’s finest golfers will converge to the Capricorn Coast in late July, as the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour rolls into Yeppoon for the very first time.

""The Yeppoon Golf Club will host its inaugural Ladbrokes Legends Pro-Am from 24 July, with Legends battling out over the two days for $30,000 in prizemoney.

Current Yeppoon Golf Club Captain Aaron Malone is looking forward to welcoming the Legends Professionals to the Capricorn Coast.

“The club is really looking forward to showcasing the Legends Professionals to our region and golf course for the very first time and the members of our club are really looking forward to them visiting in a couple of months,” Malone said.

“The course will be in peak condition at that time of the year and one I am sure all the visiting professionals will enjoy playing.”

Legends will no doubt be lured to the region not only for the prizemoney on offer, but also for the warmer weather and great golf course the sea side town is known for.

“Yeppoon is a beautiful spot nestled along Queensland’s east coast, and when I heard that the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour was heading there this year, it was an event I wasn’t going to miss,” said Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour professional Shane O’Brien.

“It is a great course and one that I am sure the Legends will enjoy playing later this year. I really hope it’s a huge success and the tournament can remain on the schedule annually.”

Although this may be the Yeppoon Golf Club’s inaugural Ladbrokes PGA Legends Pro-Am, the club has vast experience in hosting professional tournaments, having staged the Yeppoon Golf Classic over recent years.

“The tournament will understandably have a different feel to it in 2017, and the committee is hopeful that the event will be one that fits the current membership base at the club,” said Malone.

“We are all very excited for the tournament and the Golf Club and community of Yeppoon are looking forward to welcoming the professionals in July.”
