Golfing Legend Michael Harwood has paid tribute to PGA LifeMember David Mercer after winning the tournament named in his honour at KillaraGolf Club.

Golfing Legend Michael Harwood has paid tribute to PGA LifeMember David Mercer after winning the tournament named in his honour at KillaraGolf Club.

""Harwood shot 2-under par to win the $60,000 David MercerClassic by two strokes over Rodger Davis and Craig Warren in a star studdedfield that included Ian Baker Finch, Peter Senior and Peter O’Malley.

In his acceptance speech, Harwood gave praise to Mercer, "heis a true legend of our game. I have had a lot to do with the Mercers over timeand I am honoured to be here recognising some of those achievements."

The praise for Mercer was not only limited to the E-Z-GO PGALegends Tour Professionals, Killara Golf Club President Rod Reed highlighted theinfluence the esteemed Mercer had on developing the culture within thesuccessful Sydney based golf club.

"David Mercer is a very special part of this golf club andwe are delighted to celebrate him through this tournament. We are very proud ofour Professionals and how they have helped shape our club", said Reed.

David Mercer is an extremely special man, who has Life Membershipof both the Golf Club in which he served for 42 years as the PGA Professionaland Life Membership of the PGA of Australia.

The tournament has grown in stature and popularity in recentyears with Legends players from across the country drawn in to play the richestsingle day pro-am event on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour at one of Sydney’sfinest golf courses.
