Heathcote Golf Club hosted the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour on Sunday for the inaugural City of Greater Bendigo Legends Pro-Am.

Former Alfred Dunhill Cup winner and Champions Tour winner, Rodger Davis, proved victorious in a field of Professional legends that included Peter Fowler, Mike Harwood, Michael Clayton and Terry Price.

Presented with an immaculate country golf course on a stunning autumn day, 57 Professionals joined some 80 amateurs to navigate the central Victoria course.

Davis got off to a hot start making birdies on two of the first three holes."1503_RDavis_Small"

A 25 foot putt across a sloping green on the 3rd setting him up for a 6-under 65 finish.

"This was the best I have putted in a long time," said Davis.

"To go 2-under after 3 set me up for the round,"

Mike Harwood and Tim Elliott were the closest rivals both carding 2-under 69.

At the presentation Davis complemented the Heathcote Golf Club on their efforts and how he felt the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour was perfectly suited to rural Australia.

"I am looking forward to returning to Heathcote and country Victoria next year," said Davis.

The Heathcote Golf Club, together with the PGA of Australia, announced the new pro-am tournament for central Victoria in early March.

The E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour is managed by the PGA of Australia and is the Professional golf circuit for male Professional golfers aged 50 and over.

Approximately 60 tournaments operate throughout Australia and NewZealand, with approximately AU$1 million in prize money on offer each year.

The Tour’s most prominent events include the Australian PGA Seniors Championship, the Australian Senior Open, the New Zealand PGA Senior Championship and the Legends Tour Championship.
