Richard Backwell has shot an even round 72 to claim the Brisbane Legends Invitational at Brisbane Golf Club for the second year running.

Opening with an eagle on the first hole, Backwell went on to make another birdie on the par-4 8th hole before carding three bogeys on the back-9.""

"I have always enjoyed this golf course, winning here not only last year but also when I was younger. I hope that this will give me ongoing confidence and success on the QLD Swing."

The Brisbane Legends Invitational is a unique event and plays host to not only some of the nation’s finest senior Professionals but also many well known sporting and media celebrities.

"The course is superb and the format to include celebrities is quite a unique experience," Backwell said.

Peter Senior, who has recently returned from the Champions Tour in the United States, was part of a field which also included Rodger Davis, Tim Elliott, Russell Swanson and David Merriman.

The E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour will remain in Queensland this month with the Retire Australia Ashgrove Legends Pro-Am and the Altitude Wealth Solutions & Aussie Car Loans Mt Warren Park Legends Pro-Am the next two events in the schedule
