WA honours best of 2015


The 2016 WA Golf Industry Gala Dinner was another glittering affair as
representatives from all over the Western Australian got together to celebrate
a successful 2015.

The 2016 WA Golf Industry Gala Dinner was another glittering affair as
representatives from all over the Western Australian got together to celebrate
a successful 2015.

"2015The WA Golf Industry Gala dinner is a chance for all of Western Australia to
come together with representation from Golf WA, GMA – WA and the Golf Course
Superintendents Association.  Attendees came from as far away as Broome to
celebrate the hard work and outstanding results that WA has seen throughout the
year and numbered over 450 for the evening.

The dinner, held at the Astral Ballroom at Crown in Perth, saw many
recognised for their outstanding achievements, as well as PGA Trainees Danielle
Montgomery, Braden Becker and David Stoltze graduating to become PGA
Professionals.

PGA Professionals / Winners on the night included:

Hilary Lawler PGA Professional of the
Year: 
Troy Murphy (Capel Golf Club)

PGA Teaching Professional of the
Year: 
Brad Parker (Wembley Golf Complex)

PGA Pro-Am of the Year: Lakelands
Country Club Pro-Am.

PGA Tournament of the Year: TX
Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship (Kalgoorlie GC).

Other Industry Awards went to:

Royal Fremantle’s Minjee Lee won the Outstanding Golf Achievement award as
the Western Australian Golfer of the Year. The highlight of 2015 for Minjee was
winning at the Kingsmill Championship in her debut season on the LPGA Tour.

Alex Monteath was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the game of
golf with the WA Golf Industry Recognition Award. Alex was a member of GMA WA
for 44 years with 19 as President, as well as spending 27 years as managing
secretary at Lake Karrinyup CC and another three at Royal Perth GC.

Golf Course of the Year awards went to Kalgoorlie Golf Course (Regional) and
Joondalup (Metropolitan) while WA’s facilities of the year were Busselton Golf
Club (Regional) and Gosnells Golf Club (Metropolitan). Gosnells General Manager
James Wilkinson told GolfWA of his delight on behalf of the club.

"Gosnells Golf Club is very proud to be the recipient of the
Metropolitan Golf Facility of the year," said Wilkinson.

"It is great for our Club to receive this type of recognition from our
industry peers. Everyone involved with our Club is very honoured to receive
this award."

Springs).
