Lyle Serves Up a Storm

Leighton Lyle has today taken out the 2012 Bendigo Bank Keysborough Pro-Am with an incredible round that included ten birdies.

Lyle started his round with a bogie on the 10th hole but didn’t take long to warm up and made birdies on the 12th,15th,16th and 17th before another bogie on the 18th to turn in a two under 34. He quickly got his round back on track with three straight birdies before a par on the 4th. Further birdies on the 5th, 7th and 8th meant that he had stormed to eight-under with the tough 9th to play. Lyle unfortunately made his third bogie of the day to close out the round but was still good enough to win the day by two shots from the ever consistent Alistair Presnell.

“I really played well out there today and actually birdied all four of the par threes which I think is a first for me. The golf course was terrific as it always is and I really enjoyed the fast smooth greens”, Lyle said.

On top of the four birdies on the par three’s, Lyle also made birdie on all five of the par fives for an impressive looking score card.

There was a great atmosphere throughout the day with SEN1116 broadcasting live from the course and a good size gallery out to see the quality field that not only included professionals like Presnell, Fraser, Pilkadaris & Laycock but a group of Melbourne Storm players and officials including coach Craig Bellamy.

The Dingley Village branch of the Bendigo Bank where again the naming rights sponsor for the day and continued their great support of the Pro-Am circuit.

The next event on the Southern Tour is the North Western Open Pro-Am to be held and Goonawarra on Friday 20th January.
