Hunter Finishes One Two But it’s Not Enough

Leigh Hunter has today had a finish that most can only dream about but it didn’t have the fairytale ending he was hoping for when two blistering afternoon rounds of 64 by Steve Jones and Ashley Hall took out the Lonsdale Pro-Am.

Hunter who lives in the ACT was playing solid golf and had a nice round going to be two under par after 14 holes with little idea of the barnstorming finish he was about to produce. A birdie four on the par 5 eight was followed by a regulation par on the ninth to move to 3 under with back to back par 3’s to follow. Hunter then had the best finish of his life with a Hole-In-One on the tenth and a birdie 2 on the eleventh to shoot an impressive 65 (-6).

“I was happy with the way I was playing and hoping to maybe sneak a birdie on one of the last few holes but to finish with two birdies and a Hole-in-One was unbelievable, it’s just a shame I didn’t get over the line,” Hunter said.

For defending champion Hall, it’s was a day of flawless golf with two eagles, three birdies and thirteen pars.

“I am extremely happy to tie for the win and I obviously really enjoyed the course. I hope they continue to have an event, schedule permitting I will be back whenever I can.” Hall commented.

Jones who also had a great finish with a birdie and eagle was also happy with his day.

“I made a bogie on my fourth hole, but from then on I played great and to finish with a birdie and eagle is a bonus that makes a big difference.” Jones said.

With two full fields and a perfect hot day with a gentle breeze, the field certainly enjoyed their day and the fine golf course.
