About the course:
The par 71, 18 hole course features two distinctly different nine hole circuits returning to a central clubhouse with panoramic views of Dent Passage and Hamilton Island. The outward nine holes are a more compact layout around the centre of the island and the inward nine are strung out along the ridges to the south.

The island's natural and rugged beauty, together with its mountainous terrain affords stunning 360 degree views across secluded coves and beaches to adjacent passages and islands, and the mainland beyond.

Event dates:
The event will be held from Monday, 12th November to Friday, 16th November 2012.

Prize Money:
Prize Money for the PGA Professionals Championship will be $50,000.

PGA Professionals Championship Final Event Format:
The tournament will be considered a National Event with a limited maximum field of 50 players played over 54 holes (3 rounds). There will be no cut made during the event.

Rounds one and two will be played in a Pro-Am format with 50 amateurs joining the 50 professionals to play in groups of four. The final round will be played only by the professional competitors in a seeded draw format.

The purse distribution will be calculated using the former Von Nida Tour ratios, meaning all players will earn a prize payment. These ratios can be viewed on the PGA website with the event under ‘related documents’.

Tournament Week Format:

Monday, 12th November - Player Registration & Official practice day.
    • Main arrivals day and Player Registration.
    • Course open for practice on this day for Professionals and registered
      amateurs only.
    • Welcome Cocktail Party at the Yacht Club, Bommie Deck
      (food & beverages provided).

Tuesday, 13th November      Round 1 (Pro-Am format)
    • BBQ Lunch or Lunch Packs provided
    • Happy Hour Drinks at Clubhouse (own expense)

Wednesday, 14th November      Round 2 (Pro-Am format with switched draw)
    • BBQ Lunch or Lunch Packs provided
    • Happy Hour Drinks at Clubhouse (own expense)

Thursday, 15th November     Round 3 (Pros only - seeded draw)
    • Professionals only
    • BBQ Lunch provided
    • Presentation Dinner at Outrigger

Friday, 16th November      Departure

Player Costs:
State Qualifying Event winners will receive travel assistance to a maximum of $500 to attend the National Final and all PGA Professionals Championship Finalists will be eligible for the reduced accommodation rate of $64 per person per night at the Hamilton Island Resort. Lunch will be provided from Tuesday to Thursday as will a welcome Cocktail Party on Monday and the presentation dinner on Thursday evening.

Unless otherwise stated, all additional costs will be the responsibility of the competitor.

Exemptions to Australian PGA Championship:
The leading PGA Professional Championship finalist, to a ceiling of 5th place will be exempt into the 2012 Australian PGA Championship, presented by Coca-Cola.

Vicar’s Shield
The Vicar’s Shield is to be conducted as part of the PGA Professionals Championship. The Vicar’s Shield will be awarded to the leading State/Division and is calculated on the best two aggregate scores for the three rounds of competition. Should a tie occur, a countback system will be applied to establish the winning State/Division. Each State/Division will nominate two (2) players who have qualified at the qualifying events to represent their side in the Vicar’s Shield.
