Stars chip in for men's health
Friday, 5 February 2010
Sam Newman, James Brayshaw, Michael Roberts and Dean Jones were among the names who headed to Moonah Links on Friday to participate in the inaugural Moonah Amateur Classic and help support the E.J.Whitten Foundation, represented on the day by Ted Whitten Junior.
Also playing on the day were Corey McKernan, John Blackman, Iain Findlay, Michael Tuck, Dean Jones and Nick Jewell.
While the pros were on the Moonah Links Open course vying for a place in the weekend field of the Moonah Classic, the sports stars took to the Legends course alongside amateur teams who had travelled to Moonah Links from all over Australia to participate.
The day aimed to help the E.J. Whitten Foundation raise awareness of prostate cancer, the most common cancer found in Australian men after skin cancer.
The PGA and the E.J.Whitten Foundation formed a partnership in 2009 to help raise awareness amongst the golf community.
