Thursday, 23 February 2012
New Zealander Gareth Paddison was ranked 723rd in the World going into last weeks Adroit Insurance Group Victorian PGA Championship at Forest Resort, Creswick.
Despite dropping six shots through his last nine holes, Paddison held on to take out the Championship by one shot over local Victorian Leighton Lyle.
The win secured six OWGR points for Paddison, moving him up 232 places in the World Rankings into 491st position.
Winning the Vic PGA earned Paddison only slightly less points than Fredrik Jacobson, Pat Perez and Justin Rose who finished tied for 13th at the Northern Trust Open and received 6.125 points.
The addition of OWGR points to the State Based Championships for the 2012 PGA Tour of Australasia season has already seen several Tour Professionals significantly improve their World Ranking.
