The PGA Tour of Australasia has headed down the road to Royal Perth Golf Course for the John Hughes Geely / Nexus Risk Services WA Open Championship, the last of the three week West Australian swing.

Following on from fantastic tournaments in Kalgoorlie and the ISPS HANDA Perth International last week we are looking forward to another big week of golf.

The calibre of players in the field gathered at Royal Perth Golf Club is extremely high and is headlined by Brett Rumford, Stephen Leaney and Scott Strange.

The WA Open has always had a proud tradition of showcasing golf’s best up and coming amateurs and this week is no different. Some of Australia’s top amateur golfers including, Oliver Goss who made the cut at the ISPS HANDA Perth International, Nathan Holman and Jake Higginbottom will tee it up this week as they continue on their journey to Professional golf.

Taking on the men for the second year is 16-year-old school girl Minjee Lee who has had a stellar year winning the US Girls Junior Championship in July.

Other Professionals to watch this week includes defending champion Rohan Blizard, OneAsia winner Matthew Griffin and Michael Hendry who finished fourth at the ISPS HANDA Perth International last week.

The tournament will get underway this Thursday with the champion to be crowned Sunday afternoon.
