Every amateur golfer would like to play like a Pro and in my 30 years as a Teaching Professional I have been asked the same question by my students.
How can I be more consistent and my answer is to prepare yourself the same as a Pro.
What I mean by that is what you do before you hit a ball will dictate how you hit the ball.
This preparation starts before you get to the course with some light stretching of the muscles you will be using when swinging the club.
On your arrival at the course utilize what practice facilities your club provides such as nets, practice fairway and putting green.
The putting green should be used last in an attempt to derive some touch and feel.
If you have had a lesson or are working on something only do so when you are on the practice range and not while on the course.
Trust the work you have done in practice will repeat itself under the pressure of a game.
One of the most common complaints I hear is that the start of my game was terrible and by the time I started hitting the ball better the round was compromised by a lackluster start.
This can be a product of poor preparation.
Don’t forget the definition of insanity is expecting something to change when you change nothing.
What I mean by this is; have something to work on when practicing don’t just hit balls for the sake of it.
