Ben Ford has successfully defended his title at the Mansfield Trainee Pro-Am.

Ford, who won by five shots last year with a 36 hole score of 9-under, fired a pair of 69’s to finish three shots in front at a total of 4-under the card.

“I’m happy I was able to find some form leading into the National Futures Championship, it was certainly my favorite event so far this year“, said Ford.

With the Mansfield event winning the Victorian PGA Trainee Pro-Am of the year in 2011 local PGA Head Professionals Alison Munt and Nicola Moult went to every effort to make the event bigger and better this year and their hard work certainly paid off with Trainees, sponsors and local amateurs having a fantastic day.

“We loved having the Trainees up here again, it was great to see Ben win for a second consecutive and Jack shoot an impressive score of 66”, said Moult.

The only other player to finish the day under par was Jack Wilson at three shots behind Ford with scores of 66 and 75.

The Victorian Trainees head to Melton Valley Golf Club on Monday for the Sunshine Roofing Bricks & Pavers Melton Valley Trainee Pro-Am.
