Holden Scramble team in China
While much of the golf world will be focussed on the WGC event in Florida this week the first leg of an important international match will take place on the Sunshine Coast.
Two 12 man teams representing China and Australia will face off in the second Championship Tour, an event that pits the winners of the China Golf Club League sponsored by Buick against the top two teams from our own Holden Scramble.
The competition will be played over two days at Twin Waters Golf Club with a practice day and welcome dinner on Friday.
Saturday will be played under a fourball stroke format with Sunday a single stroke event.
The best 10 of each team's 12 scores count towards the team total on Sunday.
China won the first staging of the Championship Tour last year but the Australians are keen for revenge.
This year's field is made up of the top two teams from the 2012 Holden Scramble Championship Final plus two “Captain's Picks”, PGA Members selected from a random draw at the Championship Final.
Nick White from Tasmania Golf Club and Gary Burmester from Mt Warren Golf Club will join the teams from Glenden GC in Queensland and Kooindah Waters in NSW for the event.
Sunday will also mark the official launch of the 2013 Holden Scramble with Championship Tour competitors being joined on the Twin Waters course by a Holden Scramble field including Holden Scramble VIP's and media followed by a dinner on Sunday night to officially launch the Holden Scramble season.
The return leg of the Championship Tour will be played in Shanghai, China from 7 – 10 May.
