The Betstar Melbourne Golf Invitational has assembled a strong field of Professionals to contest the title in 2012.
Defending champion Peter Wilson, fresh from his two-stroke victory at the WA Goldfields PGA Championship held two weeks ago in Kalgoorlie, is on board to try and reclaim the title.
“The Betstar Melbourne Golf Invitational is one of the better pro-am’s that we play in," said Wilson.
"CM Ultimate Events did it really well last year so I am looking forward to seeing what they do this year."
"I like playing at Woodlands, it’s a great course and it suits my game.”
Also joining Wilson in the field are, three time European Tour winner Richard Green, former PGA Tour winner Andrew Stolz, former NSW PGA Champion Aaron Townsend, three-time Asian Tour winner Terry Pilkadaris, Brad Hughes two-time Australian Masters Winner in 1993/1998 and Craig Spence Australian Masters Winner in 1999.
“This is a very strong field, in fact the depth of the field will be as good as anything I have seen in an Australian pro-a, “ said Corey McKernan, Managing Director of CM Ultimate Events.
“It’s very rare that punters can come and watch this caliber of Australia’s great golfers up close for a gold coin donation.”
A highlight of last year’s event was the Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout which returns this year.
The Get Wines Direct Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout will feature a maximum of 10 entrants; a selection of Professionals, amateurs and celebrities who will have the opportunity to qualify for the shootout throughout the day, as well as one lucky spectator.
Inspirational Golfer Manuel Del Los Santos, our special guest for the 2012 Betstar Melbourne Golf Invitation pro-am, will not only make his first appearance in Australia at the event but will also take part in the shootout.
The first list of celebrity entrants has also been confirmed.
Brian Lara, former Cricket legend, will be joined by a who’s who of the sporting world, all eager to show off their golfing prowess.
Recently retired Melbourne Rebels Captain Stirling Mortlock, ex-Socceroo Mark Bosnich, former dual rugby international and now television personality Wendell Sailor and AFL legend Billy Brownless are also amongst a strong field of celebrity contestants.
