Wilson takes charge at Hawks Nest

Kareela Golf Club Trainee Professional Brad Wilson leads the NSW/ACT PGA Trainee Championships at Hawks Nest Golf Club after two rounds of 71 and 69 for a four under par total.

Wilson made a slow start to his second round with two early bogeys before reeling off six birdies on his back nine holes to close with a three under par round of 69 and a one stroke lead.

Victorian Anthony Smith is in outright second position on three under par after rounds of 70 and 71 while local hope Clayton Bridges is in outright third on one under par.

Bridges, who is completing his traineeship at the Toronto Golf Club in Newcastle recorded the equal low round of the day (69) to go with his opening round of 74.

Defending Champion David Abbott improved on his opening round of 79, to fire a two-over par round of 74 while tournament hopeful Kyle Grant dropped down the leader board after a second round 78. Both remain in contention for the title with great conditions expected for Round three commencing at 7:00am Wednesday.
