Chris Thorn has claimed his second win for the year after taking out the 36 hole Shepparton Trainee Pro-Am on Monday 28th May.

Thorn, who won the Ranfurlie Trainee Pro-Am in March, shot rounds of two under 70 and four under 68 to finish one shot ahead of Victorian Trainee Order of Merit leader Jack Wilson.

“I had a pretty solid round in the morning then really got on a roll in the afternoon on the back nine making birdies on four of the last five holes”, said Thorn.

“I really enjoyed playing at Shepparton, the greens were rolling true and the course was in superb condition”.

Second place finisher Jack Wilson is looking to continue his fine form after rounds of 70 and 69 as he gets ready to compete in the 2012 Bundaberg Motor Group Queensland Trainee Championship which tees off on 5th June at Coral Cove Golf Club.

Rounding out the top three was Southern Golf Club’s Sean Roach who shot 73 and 71 to finish even par.

The Shepparton event wrapped up the first half of the playing year with Trainees now enjoying a playing break until 20th August when they head to Flinders Golf Club.
