Chris Thorn - Burnley Win 200
Chris Thorn

Third year Trainee Chris Thorn from Huntingdale Golf Club has fired a 3-under 63 at the Burnley Trainee Pro-Am.

Thorn’s round was very up and down but was highlighted by an eagle on the 225m par 4 8th as well as a further three birdies.

Despite just two blemishes on his scorecard Thorn was very critical of his performance post round.

“I wasn’t overly happy with my score, the only highlight on my card was the eagle on the eighth hole where I drove it on the fringe and then holed the putt”, said Thorn.

“The course was in great condition and I’d like to thank host Trainee Torsten Riedel and his team for putting on a great event for us Trainees”.

A freezing morning meant a slow start for the Trainees with no one managing to break par in the morning field.

Five players including Ben Weatherly, Toby Wilcox, Charlie Sartori, Dan Robertson and Ross McClunie all came into the clubhouse even.

With better conditions for the afternoon field four other players, Ben Ferrif (64), Ben Ford (64), Luke Hickman (64) and Dylan Higgins (65), managed to break par with the course playing harder than first anticipated by the Trainees.

Next week the Trainees head to Croydon Golf Club at Yering meadows.
