Australian Adam Scott is looking to make amends for his British Open collapse at the PGA Championship starting on Thursday.

Scott was on track for a maiden major title at The Open after holding a four-stroke lead with four holes to play but sensationally bogeyed his remaining shots.

It ultimately handed victory to South Africa's Ernie Els, who birdied the 18th hole to claim a fourth major championship by one shot.

Despite the demoralising finish at The Open, Scott still placed second and he has enjoyed quite a record at majors this year.

The 32-year-old shared eighth place at the Masters in April and 15th at the US Open in June and he is now aiming to improve on those performances.

"That has to be the way I get my mind focused and back set on how it's been for the other three majors this year," Scott said.

"I need to use all the confidence and step out there on day one and play hard from the start like I did at the Open."

Scott feels he can be amongst the contenders in the season's final major at Kiawah Island.

And he only has to look at Rory McIlroy, who experienced a similar demise at the 2011 Masters but managed to regroup and win the US Open by a remarkable eight strokes.

"There is nothing to stop me from bouncing right back," Scott said.

"If I can switch it on, I'm looking forward to being right in the mix. I'm ready to go, I just want to get amongst it.

"This is it, our last major for the year, so I'm excited to get started."
