The inaugural ISPS HANDA Perth International was a huge success with all the Professionals in the field enjoying the tournament, Perth and Lake Karrinyup.

Here is what they had to say throughout the week…

Bo Van Pelt (USA)

“Any time you get a win, it’s special; to come this far and to play against a great field, a co sanctioned European Tour event and PGA Tour of Australasia event, it's something that I'll cherish forever.”

“I've won a tournament in the States and I've won a tournament in Malaysia, and now to win one in Australia, as much as golf means over here, it means a lot to me to come to a country that treasures golf and to win a title.”

“You know, the weather was fantastic, the people were great and I really enjoyed the golf course, I'll be spreading the word of what a great event this is and guys need to come and check it out.”

“To me there's a lot of strategy involved in this golf course. You just don't bang the ball up everywhere. You have to understand where the pins are and how you want to attack it. It puts a premium on driving the golf ball which I enjoy golf courses that do that. It's just a joy to play.”

“It's a very challenging golf course and it's fun to play, last time I was in Australia, I didn't get to play the weekend, so nice to get to play the weekend.”

Jason Dufner (USA)

“Fit good in my schedule to come over here, and I always enjoy playing in Australia.”

“I can't say that I've ever played a bad course in Australia, so I really enjoy coming over here and giving the fans something to watch and trying to compete on a little bit different style golf course than we see in the States.”

Charl Schwartzel (RSA)

“I was fortunate enough yesterday to get a bird's eye view of how Perth looks. It's fantastic.”

“I was glad to be in Perth. Like I say, I'm disappointed the way I've played, but I've had a great time. It's a great city, and I would like to come back to redeem myself.”

Paul Casey (ENG)

“Karrinyup is a fabulous golf course, and if you stay the right side of the hole, you can really take advantage of it. As soon as you get the wrong side, it can bite you a little bit. But it's wonderful to be down playing in front of these crowds, avoiding the kangaroos. It was a lot of fun this week.”

“I love playing in Aus. I've had success down here and won tournaments in New South Wales. And there's something about being down here; I love the warm weather, and great crowds. They are having a few tinnies up on the balcony this afternoon, but they provide a lot of support and encouragement and I've really enjoyed that this week.”

“It was great weather and a great golf course. We had nice crowds out there. They were having a laugh on 18, had a couple of beers; it was all going quite well. That's why I play the game of golf, to have days like today where it's all just a dream to be on the golf course playing with guys like Craig Parry, as well.”

Brett Rumford (AUS)

“Karrinyup, it's beautiful. It's an oasis out here, and it's always had that attraction for Perth golfers. It's one of those golf courses that you really cherish, and having the opportunity to come play is fantastic.”

Greg Chalmers (AUS)

“This golf course is fantastic based on what Mike Clayton has done to do it; the members here should be happy, they have done a great job.”

“I've had a great week and really enjoyed all the local support and it's been a really exciting week for me. I have not played Professional golf here for so long and it's been just fabulous.”

David Howell (ENG)

“I think you'll find everyone is loving it. The changes are fantastic and it's in great condition and turning into a really nice tournament.”

Craig Lee (SCO)

“I think they have got everything absolutely perfect out there. It is playing really good and it's a great golf course, you get to play every shot on the back, so it's a joy to play.”

Jason Scrivener (AUS)

“I've always believed that I can compete at this level. It's just a matter of getting the chance and getting the break to do it.”

Peter Cooke (AUS)

“This is a pretty big tournament in terms of Australian golf and prize money, so Top 5 here would take the cake.”

I really enjoyed the days we went but we were lucky enough to have player tickets. Thought the admission price stopped a lot of people from attending. The catering prices were too high- $3.50 for an iceblock that would be $1.50 in a shop. Also, I think it should be a smoke free event as we followed a group where one player smoked throughout the round. At the 9th, where there was a crowd, we had to inhale the smoke of quite a few people. The course looked beautiful and the volunteers did a good job.

Great start to the Australian golf season. However, so disappointed I'm unable to get fox sports. I'm in a unit and fox is not available. Such a shame the Australian commerical channels have stopped televising Australian golf. I think Channel 10 is showing Aust PGA is year, then they walk away from golf coverage. I did head out to my local golf club Sunday and watch a few hours in the club house. If there is a will, there is a way to watch world class golf.
