Millar finishes with six in a row

Saturday, 27 November 2010

Matt Millar has finished the third round with six consecutive birdies to move into contention of the NSW Open hosted by Nathan Green.

Starting the day at even par, Millar finished seven-under to be in the clubhouse three strokes behind overnight leader Peter O’Malley and Damon Welsford.

“It was a nice morning for golf and I played pretty good today, but nothing happened early - I was starting to get inpatient,” Millar said.

"I hit the ball close and then started to see the lines on the greens and bang in they went.”

“The course is in good shape, but the weather conditions are great so the course is a little defenceless – the score is there to be had.”

The 34-year believes he still has some work left to put himself right into contention, but is full of confidence following his results in previous weeks.

“I played good in WA but got piped at the post and finished 4th at the NSW PGA last week.”

“Im really happy with the way I have been playing in recent weeks, I have been seeing a new coach and the hard work is paying off."

The NSW Open is being held from 25-28 November at the Vintage, Hunter Valley. For further information see
