2011 British Amateur Champion Bryden MacPherson is having a good week.

Not only did the 22-year-old play his way to second stage of PGA TOUR qualifying during the week but was also named the inaugural Club Car/Greg Norman Rookie of the Year for 2012 by the Australian Golf Writers' Association.

The award was launched this year to recognise emerging young Australians and assist them in launching their Professional golf careers. MacPherson will receive a trophy as well as a cash prize of $1,500 which will be presented to him at the annual Golf Writers' Association dinner during Australian Open week at The Lakes.

"This is amazing and I am truly honoured to be the recipient of this new award," MacPherson said.

“I sincerely thank Club Car, Greg Norman and the Australian Golf Writers Association for selecting me".

Kevin Gates, Vice President of Club Car Asia Pacific, said the company was proud to be involved with the award.

"Club Car is pleased to be able to sponsor this award in company with Greg Norman and also to be able to present the inaugural award to Bryden McPherson who is a worthy winner,” he said.

“Hopefully this will help him go forward in his professional golf career."
