World number nine Stacy Lewis held off a fast-finishing Lexi Thompson to win the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic on Sunday as Australian Karrie Webb finished in a tie for fourth.
Lewis headed into the fourth round on 14 under and quickly moved to 16 under after birdies on the first two holes.
The 27-year-old American added another birdie on the sixth hole to be 17 under heading into the back nine but failed to improve on that score.
Thompson, who started Sunday's final round four shots behind Lewis, hit three birdies on the front nine to reach 12 under and then stormed home to be 16 under with two holes to play but could not manage another birdie to draw level with the tournament leader.
Karine Icher maintained her overnight position to finish third, the Frenchwoman posting a four-under 68 to finish a shot behind Thompson on the overall leaderboard.
Icher was three shots ahead of the next group of players that included Spain's Azahara Munoz, So Yeon Ryu and Sun Young Yoo of Korea, Webb and the USA's Brittany Lincicome.
Lincicome dropped from second overall to a tie for fourth after an inconsistent final round that included four birdies and four bogeys.
World number two Na Yeon Choi of Korea matched Thompson's seven under for the day to move to eight under for the tournament and tied for 20th.
