Langer seeks third straight Major

Mike Reid
American Mike Reid claimed his second major title in a play-off from fellow countryman John Cook.

All eyes will be on Germany's Bernhard Langer at the JELD-WEN Tradition to see if he can win a third straight Major Championship.

Easily the man to beat in his quest to win a third major championship in a row after his victories at the Senior British Open and US Senior Open.

Langer wont have it all his own way with American Tom Lehman amongst a host of challengers having won the US Senior PGA Championship earlier this year.

Lehman was the only Champions Tour player to make the cut at last week's US PGA Championship, finishing T55 at two-over.

The 51-year-old gave the crowd something to cheer about when he made the first hole-in-one of the tournament. Lehman holed a 4-iron from 198m at the par-three 17th hole in round three.

Lehman who defeated South African David Frost in a play-off for the PGA Senior title, is fresh from victory in the 3M Championship a fortnight ago after posting a tournament scoring record of 191 (25-under).

American Mike Reid is the defending champion. Reid made a 12-foot birdie putt on the first play-off hole at Crosswater Golf Club last year to post his second career Champions Tour victory, both majors having also won the 2005 Senior PGA Championship.

Reid shot a final-round 70, finished at 16-under 272 and defeated countryman John Cook in the play-off.

Australian Peter Senior will partner Jay Don Blake and Bobby Clampett in the first two rounds.

Senior has two top-ten results in Major Championships in his rookie season on the Champions Tour and is currently 14th on the OOM. His best result coming at last month's US Senior Open, were he finished T3.

Graham Marsh is the only other Australian in the field and is a former champion of the event having won back in 1999.
