China and Australia International Challenge

Tuesday, 10 April 2012

In an historic first for Australia’s largest running pro-amateur teams event, the Holden Scramble, 12 amateur players and two PGA Professionals have landed in China ready to compete in the first ever China and Australia International Challenge held in China.

The friendly match, which will be held at the CTS Tycoon Golf Club just outside Shenzhen and will see the top three teams from the 2011 Holden Scramble play off against the top three clubs from the China Golf Club League in the return leg of the competition that saw China visit Australia in November last year.

For most of the players, the trip is their first match outside of Australia and was far from where they expected to be after teeing it up in their respective Local Holden Scrambles last year.

The match is aimed at showcasing both countries golf courses and competitions, and will be played from 10th – 12th April.

The teams representing Australia are from Robina Woods (QLD), Laidley (QLD) and the all female team from Cromer (NSW).

PGA Professionals in attendance include the Professionals from Robina Woods and Laidley, Corey Taylor and Ian Esson.
