Cellarbrations for Bowdo and Senior

Monday, 21 November 2011

Tournament host Steven Bowditch and defending Australian PGA Champion Peter Senior have taken out the inaugural Steven Bowditch Charity Golf Day presented by Cellarbrations.

Played at the home of this week’s Holden Scramble National Final Twin Waters Golf Club, the tournament has raised well in excess of $30,000 for Autism Queensland, a charity extremely close to Steven’s heart with his brother Adam, who is also a PGA Professional having a five year old son with Autism.

“After seeing many of the challenges my brother has gone through over the past few years, it is something that I have been thinking about for a while, and to get this event off the ground this year is really rewarding”.

“I can’t say enough about the support we have received from the get go. Cellarbrations as major sponsors have been right behind the event in every facet and to get the quality of professionals here that we did, makes me very proud”.

The field consisted of two time major winner John Daly(70), US Tour Player Rod Pampling(73) as well as Greg Chalmers(70) who only two weeks ago lifted the Stonehaven Cup. In talking to US PGA and One Asia Tour Winner Andre Stolz, he is not surprised at the quality of the field.

“Bowdo is one of the most respected players out on tour, not only here in Australia, but all around the world and it really only took a tap on the shoulder from Steven and we were here”.

Peter Senior continued the great form he has shown on the US Champions Tour throughout 2011 with another stellar performance carding 68 alongside Bowditch, and after the round discussed coming home and playing in his home state.

“It has been a great hear this year in more ways than one but I would be lying if I wasn’t saying I’m glad to be home. I really respect Steven for putting on a day like this and with my Charity Pro Am next Thursday(1st Dec), I hope I can raise just as much as Steven has, as we try to give back to the community that has served us so well during our careers”.

With the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca Cola set to kick off on Thursday at Hyatt Regency Coolum, the players will now join the likes of Greg Norman, Jason Day, Bubba Watson and many others in their quest for Australian PGA glory.
