Abbott and Wilson unbeatable combo

Jon Abbott and Jack Wilson have taken out the Victorian PGA 4BBB Handicap Matchplay Knockout.
Held last week at the Commonwealth Golf Club in perfect Melbourne spring conditions, the duo of Abbott and Wilson combined to produce some solid golf making the turn at 1 up.
Making a valiant charge at the title, Haydn Thompson and Lee Dawes efforts proved futile as Abbott and Wilson won the first five holes on the way back in, to win the title 6 & 4 at the 14th hole.
Praising the pair for their win Geoff Stewart, Executive Officer of the Southern Division said, “Congratulations to Jon and Jack for their victory, they clearly paired well in the event and played some excellent golf on the back nine to secure the win.”
“It is great to see a full PGA Member and a Trainee Member from the same club pairing up for the event.”
“They will be tough to beat in 2013,” added Stewart.
As just a first year Trainee Jack Wilson paired with Jon Abbot in 2011 where the duo was knocked out in the third round.
Drawing from their experiences, Wilson and Abbott this year were able to claim the victory from a strong field of 25 other teams.
The win complements a successful season for second year Trainee Jack Wilson who has also won the NSW / ACT Trainee Championship, Drouin Pro-Am against the Tour Pros and comfortably leads the Victorian Trainee Order of Merit thanks to his four Trainee Pro-Am wins.
